Why do we have bats in the house?

Before we get into the bat exclusion question, let’s take a look at why we have these bad boys invading your house.

  • Bats do not fly in through your doors or open windows. They are more cautious than that. They choose other entrances to your home. The favorite type of bat entrance would be cracks in the walls, through unprotected vents, or broken pipes in the house.
  • Some bats species are smaller than a few inches, so even if the crack is about an inch, they can enter your house.
  • For whatever reason bats choose your home, you must find a way to get rid of them. The best way to eliminate bats is through a bat exclusion program

What is Bat Exclusion?

Bats living inside your home will come and go frequently at night. They need to spend time after dark hunting for food so that they can survive. Because of this, you don’t really need to capture a bat to get it out of your house. Instead, you can simply let the bats out, and then refuse to let them back in!

Bat Exclusion through Nets

The first thing to this technique is to spot all the cracks in your house that bats could be using as entry points. After that, you will have to place nets outside of them. These nets are long, cut in a funnel shape.

When the bats try to fly out, they can easily drop down the net, but the entrance at the far end is too narrow to easily let them back in. This is widely considered the most humane and effective way of dealing with a bat infestation.

Bat Exclusion through Pipes

You can also use bat exclusion techniques on pipes to get rid of your bats. There are special pipes for this purpose. These pipes are wider on one end and narrower on the other end.

When you fix these pipes on the cracks, bats fly out of them safely. But while coming back, they can’t because the entrance point is too narrow.

Why is the Bat Exclusion the Best Method?

People who have dealt with bat infestations generally agree that exclusion is the best method. At AAAC Wildlife Removal, we believe exclusion to be the best method because of the following reasons:

  • The bat exclusion technique ensures that the bats are not harmed physically.
  • This technique seals all the cracks, which shuts down any entry points bats use to get inside.
  • It is highly cost-effective.
  • It is a sure shot method of clearing out bat colonies.

Wanting to get rid of bats that have formed colonies in the attic or chimney is natural. But if you want to use the most humane method for relocating them, exclusion is the best way to control bats in your house, hands down. If you need Bat Exclusion work done, call AAAC Wildlife Removal
